I was born on the 21st of January 1986 and grew up in a village in Mthatha, a small town in the Eastern Cape Province. I had a challenging childhood because my parents got divorced when I was thirteen. A dreamer and over-achiever, I excelled academically and left high school with distinctions in Mathematics, Accounting, Physical Science and Afrikaans. I did a B. Com at Wits and after graduating, went on to do articles at one of the Big Four Auditing Firms. Four months before I could complete my articles, I had a profound spiritual experience which made me resign from my articles. A little later on, I had recurring nervous breakdowns and was unemployed for two years. I then decided that Accounting did not fulfill me and I decided to do the things I was passionate about, such as writing.
